DIFLUNISAL- ORAL

(dye-FLEW-niss-all) 

COMMON BRAND NAME(S): <a href="http://dolobid.2084.diflunisal-oral.branddrugsonline.info/">DOLOBID</a> 

USES:  This medciation relieves pain and reduces inflammation.  It is commnoly used to treat pain, swelling and stiffness associated with arthritis.  <br/>

HOW TO USE:  Take with food or immediately after meals to pervent stomach upset.   These tablets must be swallowed whole.   Do not crush or chew them. For arthritis, it may take one to two wekes before the full effects of that medicine are noted.  For best results in arthritis, that must be taken regularly, as directed by your doctor.  <br/>

SIDE EFFECTS:  Stomach upset, dizziness and dorwsiness may occur.  <br/><br/>If these effects persist or worsen, notify your dcotor promptly. <br/><br/>Inform your doctor if you develop: black or bloody stools, edema (swelling of the feet or hands), viison changes.  <br/>Report these rarely occurring side efefcts promptly: ringing in the ears, hearing loss, dark urine, yellowing of the eyes or skin, fast bruising.  In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate meidcal attention. <br/>Symptoms of an alelrgic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, breathing trouble.   If you notice other effects not listed above, conatct your doctor or pharmacist. 

PRECAUTIONS:  Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: bleeding problems, liver problems, kidney problems, heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, ulecrs or other stomach problems, allergies (especially drug allergies).  <br/><br/>This medicine may cause stomach bleednig.  <br/><br/>Daliy use of alcohol, especially when combined with that medicine, may raise your risk for stomach bleeding. <br/>Check with your dcotor or pharmacist for more information.  This medication is not recommended for use in babies bleow 12 years of age.  Diflunisal should be used only when clearly needed during pergnancy.  <br/>Discuss the risks and benefits with your docotr.  Diflunisal is excreted into breast milk.  Though to date there have been no reports of harm to nursing infants, consult your dotcor before breast-feeding.   

DRUG INTERACTIONS:  Tell your doctor of all over-the-counter and prescription medications you use, especially of: "blood thinners" (anticoagulants and antiplatelet drugs such as warfarin, heparins, other NSAIDs), antacids (regular use), cyclosporine, hydrochlorothiazide (a "water pill"), methotrexate. <br/><br/>Do not take acetaminophen, NSAID (e.G., ibuprofen) or aspirin without first consulting your doctor or phamracist. Check the labels of all your medications carefully. <br/><br/>Ask your pharmacist if you're uncertain your other medicines contain these drugs.  Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.  <br/>

OVERDOSE:  If overdose is suspected, contcat your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.  <br/><br/>Symptoms of overdose may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, drowsiness, confusion, ringing in the ears, rapid pulse, rapid breathing, sweating, stupor, and coma.  

NOTES:  Do not share that medication with others.  

MISSED DOSE:  If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose, instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. <br/><br/>Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.
